Establish a barrier between the facility
The Laredo City Council will consider approving a wall to be built around the North Laredo Waste Water Treatment Plant.
The construction would join existing masonry that runs along Shiloh Drive and Country Club Drive.
The utilities department said the investment would establish a barrier between the facility and residents on the east and west side of the plant.
Utilities Director Tomas Rodriguez said the large property has also been a home to javelinas.
"We're going to seal the whole plant with concrete block walls, so then we can bring in the health department and capture all of the javelinas that are there," said Rodriguez.
The plan would cost 99-thousand dollars. If approved, it will come out of the 2006 and 2009 sewer revenue bonds.
The city recently completed a wall around the waste water plant in South Laredo.
