U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized nearly $3 million in illegal narcotics during two seizures at international bridges in South Texas.

The larger of the two seizures in Laredo happened Saturday when authorities discovered 22 packages containing nearly 54 pounds of cocaine hidden in a Chevy Silverado pickup truck. The cocaine had an estimated value of $1.7 million.

The other seizure at another bridge in Laredo took place Sunday when officers found 36 packages containing nearly 38 pounds of methamphetamine hidden in a Chevy Malibu.

The drugs had an estimated value of $1.2 million.
